Parking structures are often defined by plain barriers and closed facades that look heavy and impersonal. They tend to create hard edges that separate the building from its surroundings. This reduces the quality of nearby public spaces and makes the area feel disconnected.
By using Lalace railings and enclosures, the design introduces lightness, pattern and openness. The mesh allows natural references to appear while maintaining safety and functionality. This transforms the boundary of the parking area into a more engaging and attractive part of the urban fabric.
Lalace is a woven mesh system that can be customized in pattern, scale and curvature. It offers strength and transparency in one, making it suitable for railings, facades, ceilings and enclosures. In this project it was applied to parking railings and surrounding enclosures, projecting tree imagery and creating a link between built form and landscape.
