Problem

Hospitals often need safety barriers (such as fall screens) that can feel cold or institutional. The typical solutions focus purely on function, ignoring whether they support a caring environment. As a result, such elements can feel alienating or harsh in sensitive spaces.

Solution

By applying Lalace as a safety net with an artistic butterfly motif, we bridged function and emotion. The mesh provides protection but also brings elegance and visual softness to the space. It helps the environment feel more human and inviting, without compromising on security.

Product

Lalace is a woven mesh system suitable for façades, ceilings, walls, gates, railings and nets. It can be customized in pattern, density, scale and curvature to suit the architectural context. In this hospital project it is used as a fall screen with a butterfly pattern, combining safety, transparency and a welcoming aesthetic.

A huge carpet projected onto the ceiling invites you to the rooftop restaurant. The golden fabric also functions as a false ceiling behind which sprinklers, electrics, and ventilation systems are hidden. The transparency of the ceiling gives the illusion of a larger space. The pattern displays drops on a surface of water, it unifies the space, from the kitchen to the interior to the outside seating area.
