A new residential park lacked an identifiable gathering spot or landmark. The developers wanted an artful pavilion or pergola that could provide shade and serve as a social hub. The challenge was to create a structure that felt like public art yet was practical as a shelter and meeting point.
Redfort designed a pergola using its Lalace metal fabrication techniques. The structure consists of multiple column “trunks” that support a broad canopy with intricate cut-out patterns. This art canopy resembles an abstract tree or sculpture, aligning with the natural setting of the park. It provides dappled shade and visual interest, encouraging residents to gather underneath. The pattern was customized to incorporate motifs meaningful to the community, making the pergola both a functional pavilion and a piece of storytelling.
The final product is a steel pergola/pavilion installed in the center of the park. It stands out for its artistic pattern cut into the roof panels – when sunlight passes through, it creates beautiful patterns on the ground. The trunks and canopy were engineered for stability and powder-coated for weather resistance. As a Redfort creation, the pergola is not just a physical structure but also a landmark dubbed an “artpiece” by locals. It successfully invites people to meet, relax, and enjoy the park while symbolizing the identity of the place.
