Four woven steel mesh panels transform the station entrance into a distinctive landmark. Created as part of Purple Path, the art and sculpture trail in the Chemnitz 2025 European Capital of Culture region, the installation connects public art with local identity. Inspired by the textile heritage of Annaberg-Buchholz, the design reinterprets traditional weaving techniques in a contemporary architectural form.

The station square lacked a distinctive element that could connect the area's rich history with its future ambitions. The challenge was to create a landmark that would enhance the public space while reflecting the region's textile heritage and railway identity.
Redfort designed four large woven mesh structures inspired by traditional lace-making and braiding techniques. Positioned between slender steel columns, the installation creates the impression of a sculptural station canopy while telling the story of local craftsmanship through contemporary design.
Lalace transforms woven steel mesh into architectural artworks that combine openness, durability and identity. For Braided Journey, the custom-designed mesh panels create a striking public installation that celebrates cultural heritage while giving the station entrance a unique visual presence.
