W+K Amsterdam collaborated with Nike to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the all-time leading men’s national team goal scorer. In his childhood court in Funchal, Portugal, special goalposts were installed as a tribute, featuring a painted goal symbolizing his lifelong commitment to setting personal goals. Redfort produced the custom goal netting with the messages “GREATNESS STARTS WITH A GOAL” and “MARCA O TUE DESTINO.”

Ordinary goal nets are purely functional and rarely have any narrative or visual weight. In a commemorative project the net can seem like a missed medium if left plain. Simply installing goalposts without integrated identity risks losing the emotional connection. The challenge was to embed meaning directly into the mesh.
By applying Lalace to the net design, the barrier itself becomes part of the message. The custom text and pattern turn it into a visual medium that echoes Ronaldo’s journey and the theme of goal-setting. It carries symbolism and identity while still preserving the net’s structural role. The goal net becomes both protective and meaningful.
Lalace is a woven mesh system suitable for nets, facades, enclosures, gates and more. It can be customized in pattern, text, scale and curvature to serve design intent. In this case it was used as custom goal netting bearing motivational messaging — combining strength, transparency and narrative in one.
