In a future park along the Seine, Bob361 incorporates portraits of local residents, created by artist Christian Guemy, into the architecture. These enclosures provide natural light, scenic views, and safety, merging functionality with cultural connection.

The riverside apartments required fencing for gardens and ground-level patios that could prevent unauthorized entry. However, the developer wanted something more engaging than standard bars – something that could give the project a unique identity and reflect the people living there. The challenge was designing secure enclosures that double as an artistic facade element.
Redfort collaborated with a local artist to design a Lalace pattern featuring abstract human portraits. The faces and silhouettes are interlinked in the mesh, symbolizing community and life along the river. These panels were installed as continuous fence sections along the promenade and between buildings. They provide the necessary barrier while allowing views of the Seine and maintaining a welcoming look. The design process involved careful adjustment so that no opening in the pattern was climbable or breached safety limits.
The final product consists of laser-cut steel panels treated for outdoor use, installed on custom frames around the housing complex. Each section of fence is like a piece of art – when viewed together, they form a gallery of faces watching over the river. At night, subtle backlighting on the inside creates a lantern effect, with portraits visible in silhouette from the outside. This Redfort enclosure system succeeded in making the Ivry residences instantly recognizable, proving that security infrastructure can significantly contribute to a location’s cultural and aesthetic value.
