Treatment and support facility for children and (young) adults with a mild intellectual disability (LVB) and additional problems.

Problem

Health and treatment facilities often rely on rigid, fortress-like enclosures to ensure safety and separation. These enclosures can feel cold, imposing and disconnected from the therapeutic goals of the space. Patients and users may perceive them as barriers rather than supportive elements.

Solution

By using Lalace enclosures and screens, the design softens the protective boundary. The mesh provides security and visual separation while still allowing light, views and spatial connection. The result is a façade that respects the needs of the facility without sacrificing humanity or openness.

Product

Lalace is a woven mesh system applicable to facades, enclosures, railings and screening elements. It can be tailored in pattern, scale, curvature and density to suit context and function. In SBH it was used to create protective yet expressive enclosures that support both performance and an inviting architectural presence.
